Sports club
“ We want to inspire a lifelong interest in sports. ”.
At Urdaneta, we understand that sports are essential for health benefits, but above all, we firmly believe they are an excellent educational tool for the values they foster.
This educational focus shapes our approach to sports. The initial goal should not be winning. Competing with others allows us to measure and re-evaluate ourselves.
By facing an opponent, we learn from them and ourselves, developing respect for those we compete against, while pushing ourselves to improve through discipline, perseverance, and personal growth. In short, sports educate us, which is why we consider sportsmanship an essential factor in making competition educational.
Our Sports Club is a vital part of Urdaneta School, aligning its activities with the school’s philosophy and educational project. It operates autonomously with its own Board of Directors.
From the earliest ages, we encourage every student to participate and develop in a wide range of sports activities. We are proud that 75% of our students represent the school in at least one sport, and we are pleased that the vast majority of our teams compete at the highest level.
In line with its principles, our Sports Club organizes numerous activities to promote sports practice: exhibitions, tournaments, competitions, sports camps, sports days, and the well-known Urdaneta-Loiu cross-country race. It promotes the values that define us through training courses and participation in various forums, presentations, and publications.
As recognition for its efforts to promote sports in schools and federations, our school has been honored first with the “Sports Award” by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, and later with the “Basque Sports Award,” granted by the Basque Government in recognition of its outstanding social work in sports education and promotion
